About Westerville, OH

Westerville is a city in Franklin and Delaware counties, a northeastern suburb of Columbus with roughly 39,200 residents across about 12.7 square miles and the 43081, 43082, and 43086 ZIP codes.

It was platted by 1856 and incorporated in 1858. Interstate 71 and Interstate 270 border the city, and State Route 3 runs through Uptown Westerville, the old town center, as State Street.

Otterbein University traces back to the Blendon Young Men’s Seminary, chartered in 1839. Westerville was once known as the “Dry Capital of the World,” and the Anti-Saloon League moved its national headquarters here in 1909. Alum Creek runs through the area.
