Water Features & Garden Ponds • Local Branches in Cleveland and Columbus
Water Features That Change What the Yard Sounds Like
Sit on a patio near a road and you hear the road. Put moving water between the two and the road goes away. That is most of what a water feature does, and nobody thinks about it until they have one. The rest happens at dusk, when the light catches the surface and the yard finally has somewhere to look.Water features are designed by teams in both the Cleveland and Columbus markets, to the standard two decades of outdoor living work has set.
The Best Seat in the Yard Gets Better
Most of what a water feature does happens in the background. It is not the thing you go out to look at, it is the thing that changes how the yard feels once it is there, the way the road stops registering and the space seems to end at the edge of your own property. Everything else a yard offers asks you to use it. This one works whether you are paying attention or not.

-
The road gives way to the water.
Water falling off a spillway sounds nothing like water moving over a stream bed, and a bubbling boulder sits somewhere between the two. Drop height, flow rate, and the surface the water lands on decide which one you get. Those are chosen on paper, against your favorite place to sit, so the sound lands where you are rather than where the photo was taken.
-
You choose how much upkeep comes with it.
A bubbling urn or a basalt column runs itself and disappears in November. A pondless waterfall recirculates into a hidden basin and asks for little more than a top off in August. A planted pond with koi, or a stream that winds through the beds on its way down, is a different commitment and a different kind of pleasure. We have that conversation while it is still a drawing, so what gets built fits the attention you want to give it.
-
Ohio winters are in the plan from day one.
Shutdown, drainage, and whether it runs through the cold or sleeps until spring are all specified during design. Closing it down becomes a short afternoon in October rather than something you dread every year.
-
Dusk is when it earns the spot.
Lighting in the water and around it goes on the same plan as the planting that softens the edges. The result is a feature that looks like it belongs to the yard rather than one that looks delivered to it.
How Water Feature Design and Construction Works
Where you sit sets the plan.
The seating area comes first, then the feature gets placed and sized for what you will hear from it.
You see the design and the number together.
Style, scale, pump and basin specification, lighting, and planting priced as one scope.
We build it and show you how it runs.
Startup, flow adjustment, and a walk through seasonal care, so the feature is yours rather than a mystery with a pump in it.
"Very patient with us and took us through multiple design choices to find the right design for our budget and desires."

How Exscape Group Operates on Your Property
One person who knows your property.
You get a single point of contact who stays with your account year-round. Not a rotating queue, not a different name on every email.
The crew serving you is based in your market.
Our branches cover Greater Cleveland and Columbus, so the team on your property is local to it. Local presence is how the company was built, not a byproduct of getting bigger.
Every visit gets written down.
After a service visit you hear what the crew saw, whether it was expected or not. Property history lives in one shared system across every branch, not in one person's truck.
We are still here after the install.
When the first fall arrives and you are wondering what to cut back and what to leave, someone answers. The team that builds your space is the team that cares for it.
We will tell you if we are not the right fit.
If your project is smaller, we will tell you plainly rather than take three weeks to not call you back.

Good Questions, Straight Answers
-
Exscape Group builds both ponds, which hold standing water and can support plants and fish, and pondless features, which recirculate water through a hidden underground basin with no open pool. Pondless features suit households that want the sound and the movement without the maintenance or the depth. Pondless is also the more common choice where young children use the yard.
-
Exscape Group sizes the maintenance commitment to the type of feature and explains that difference during design rather than after installation. A pondless feature generally needs basin top-up, occasional pump cleaning, and a seasonal shutdown. A planted pond with fish carries more, including filtration, water quality, and seasonal plant care.
-
Exscape Group specifies during design whether a feature will run through winter or be shut down, rather than leaving it to the first cold snap. Running water through a freeze requires the right depth, pump placement, and flow, and a feature not built for it will ice up and risk damage. Shutdown and spring startup are straightforward on a feature designed with winter in mind.
-
Exscape Group places water features for what they sound like from the seating area, which means starting at the patio rather than at the planting bed. Proximity to power, the route for the plumbing, and how much the feature will be seen from inside the house all factor into the location. Placement is settled during the property walk before any design work.
