Paver Patios & Hardscaping • Local Branches in Cleveland and Columbus
Hardscaping That Decides How the Rest of the Yard Gets Used
Every yard has a path people take without thinking. Out the kitchen door, around the corner, over to wherever the chairs are. Put your patio where people already go, at a level nobody has to think about, and the rest of the yard follows. Put it where it looked good on a plan and you have a nice piece of stone nobody walks to.Two decades of design-build work across Northeast Ohio sits behind the drawings, with a growing portfolio in Central Ohio.
The Patio Holds Up From the Bottom
Think about what happens on it. Coffee at seven while the grass is still wet. Dinner that starts at six and is still going at ten. Chairs pulled into a circle without anyone deciding to, and the sound of it carrying back through the kitchen window. A patio is the spot for all of this. Which is why what holds it up matters.

-
Spring arrives and nothing needs fixing.
Excavation depth, aggregate, and compaction in lifts rather than all at once. Freeze and thaw is what lifts stone here, and it is answered underground before a single paver is set.
-
Rain runs off and away from the house.
Pitch, drainage, and the route runoff takes once the surface is no longer absorbing it. A patio that sends water at the foundation is a problem you inherit the first heavy spring.
-
It becomes the place everyone ends up.
Where the grill goes, where the table sits, how people get from the back door to the fire without crossing a planting bed. The outline comes from that rather than from a standard rectangle.
-
You can add to it without starting over.
Sleeves for gas and power, and levels that work with a future pergola, kitchen, or wall. A patio that has to be opened up afterward to run a line is the most avoidable expense in this work.
How Hardscaping and Patio Projects Work
We walk the yard and talk about traffic.
Which doors you use, where people end up, and what the space has to do in July and in October. That conversation sets the shape before anything is measured.
You see the design and the number together.
Layout, materials, levels, and drainage priced as one scope, with phasing if the yard is coming together over more than one season.
We build from the base up.
Excavation, base, and compaction get the time they need, because that is the part that decides whether the surface holds.
"They built a very strong base by compacting a few inches at a time. Their paver work was some of the best that I have seen."

How Exscape Group Operates on Your Property
One person who knows your property.
You get a single point of contact who stays with your account year-round. Not a rotating queue, not a different name on every email.
The crew serving you is based in your market.
Our branches cover Greater Cleveland and Columbus, so the team on your property is local to it. Local presence is how the company was built, not a byproduct of getting bigger.
Every visit gets written down.
After a service visit you hear what the crew saw, whether it was expected or not. Property history lives in one shared system across every branch, not in one person's truck.
We are still here after the install.
When the first fall arrives and you are wondering what to cut back and what to leave, someone answers. The team that builds your space is the team that cares for it.
We will tell you if we are not the right fit.
If your project is smaller, we will tell you plainly rather than take three weeks to not call you back.

Good Questions, Straight Answers
-
Exscape Group builds paver patios on a fully excavated and compacted base, which is what resists the lifting and separation that freeze and thaw cause in this climate. Base depth and compaction matter more in Ohio than they do in milder regions, because the ground moves every winter. Individual pavers can also be lifted and reset if settling occurs, which is one advantage pavers hold over poured concrete.
-
Exscape Group builds primarily in pavers and natural stone, which are individual units set on a compacted base rather than a single poured slab. A slab in this climate eventually cracks along a line no one chooses, and repairing it means replacing a visible section. A settled paver can be lifted and reset without the repair showing.
-
Exscape Group builds on sloped yards regularly, using grading, steps, or retaining walls to create usable level space. Slopes are common across the Chagrin Valley and much of Geauga County, and the degree of fall usually decides whether a patio sits at one level or steps down in sections. That assessment happens during the property walk, before any design work begins.
-
Exscape Group schedules most hardscape projects a season ahead, with design completed over the winter for spring and summer construction. Starting the conversation in the fall secures both material and crew time before the season fills. Construction itself runs from spring through late fall in Ohio, and late-season builds are possible until the ground freezes.
