About Avon Lake, OH

Avon Lake is a city in Lorain County on the southern shore of Lake Erie, about 17 miles west of Cleveland, with roughly 25,210 residents across about 11 square miles and the 44012 ZIP code.

It separated from Avon Township in the 1910s and became a city in 1960.

About 220 acres of the city are set aside for parks and playgrounds, including Veterans Memorial Park, Miller Road Park, and Bicentennial Park, and the Ellen Trivanovich Aquatic Center was rebuilt in 2010. Lake Road runs along the shoreline. Students attend Avon Lake City Schools, including Avon Lake High School.
